Although I don't encourage last minute preparation for God to crack a miracle at the end, it worked once for our school's quiz team back in 2023. The competition took place when we were in form four and surprisingly all the team members were preparing for their public examinations. The team members were Rufaro Mupito, Denzel Gosha, Makama Mushambadzi, Gilbert Chikanya, our team captains Tinomudaishe Tendere and Anesuisihe Sasa. The overwhelming pressure of examinations made us neglect our quiz preparation, a mistake we plan on not repeating in 2024.
Mrs. Chiome, our team matron, surprised us with news that would have been 'glad tidings' to a prepared student, but shook us the complacent student. She informed us that the competition was commencing that very day and we immediately began our last minute preparations. A one hundred page document had to be read in a space of three hours. Preparations were more and Pastor Chambalama provided us, putting his faith on six unprepared students. We arrived at the Management Training Bureau and I personally saw ourselves taking the last position because of our unpreparedness. We competed against schools such as Midland Christian College, Errymaple International College and Marist Nyanga High. We surprisingly pulled it off taking position three with God leading the way. When I think about this all I see is God's mercy and grace to undeserving individuals. The greatest lesson from this experience was- you may have wasted time, but you can always repent and make use of the time you have now. My encouragement to an examination candidate who is about to sit for their exams but time seems to have already passed; keep on working hard and repent to God, it's never too late!
